I’ve wanted to keep an online journal, a weblog, a blog, ever since I started reading Catherine Skidmore’s. Years went by and I never began. Finally, last fall, for a reason that continues to elude me, I created a MySpace page. On MySpace I’ve met many librarians and have posted some blogs, but I find that it just doesn’t seem to be well-suited for a blog of a more “serious” nature.

It is the last Sunday in April, and I have a full day of work ahead of me, but I wanted to get this started. This past January, at a meeting of professional catalogers at work, I suggested a blog would be a good thing for us to have. Last week, I had a meeting with our AUL for Technical Services to give him an update on some of the meetings I had attended at ALA Midwinter. Yes, Midwinter. Four months later. Anyway, I mentioned my blog idea to him, and he agreed it sounded like a good idea.

We have a “conference blog” at work, but I don’t want to limit my blog to conference-related topics. So, here I am.

I ramble. I make grammatical errors. I omit important words. I, use, too, many, commas. I begin sentences with conjunctions. But, there are so many exciting changes happening in the world of librarianship that I just have to participate, and one way of doing that is to share by way of a blog.
