As I sit here trying to keep myself on task, it occurs to me (not for the first time) that there are certain aspects of my job that I really dislike. Writing call numbers on t.p. versos and putting barcodes on books are a couple of chores I wouldn’t miss.







Explain your workflow for me. You do the cataloguing then the processing as well?
Just some processing. When I have a physical item (book, CD-ROM, etc.) to catalog, in addition to cataloging, I mark the piece and affix barcodes (one front, one back). Gets really boring when I have many volumes of a serial like I did when I wrote the post…
I totally agree with not liking having to write on the verso. First, I’m cataloging special collection books - books from the 1800s and I should not be writing in them! Second, it’s a step I always forget
